Less is More: The Data Dilemma

Too much data can be as bad as too little. It is a challenge.

The Problem
We get tons of data. But think of it like a closet stuffed with clothes. Too many choices can leave you stuck, wearing the same old thing.

Example
Consider online shopping sites. They offer endless options, filters, and recommendations. But have you ever felt so overwhelmed that you ended up not buying anything? That is data overload in action.

Instead of helping, the excessive options and information paralyze decision-making.

A Fact
Every day, massive amounts of data are created (IBM says it is in quintillions!). But if we are not smart about what we use, it is just a stack of unused numbers.

Tips to Tackle
a. Keep It Simple: Just track what really matters for your goals.
b. Think User-First: Ask, “Will this data make things better for the user?”
c. Check Your Data: Regularly. Drop what is not helpful.

The Insight
As product leaders, we must aim for meaningful, precise data, not more of it.

Quality over Quantity, always!
