Relearning How to Cheer for Others

Most people say they want others to win.
Until they actually start winning.

I have seen this in teams, in relationships, even in myself.
It’s uncomfortable to admit, but sometimes someone else’s success quietly triggers our insecurity.

Seneca once wrote, “It’s in keeping with Nature to show our friends affection and celebrate their advancement as if it were our own.”

Simple idea. Hard to live by.

In today’s hyper-connected world, every achievement is public.
Every win shows up in our feed.
And without realizing it, we start comparing not learning.

But the real maturity is when you can cheer for someone even when you’re still figuring things out.
That’s strength. That’s leadership.

Try it. Celebrate someone’s success without making it about you.
Say “well done” and mean it.
It’s a small act.
But it says a lot about who you are.

Great leaders don’t just build results. They build others up.
