Self-Help Is Overrated

Vallabh Chitnis - IntuiWell - Self-Help Is Overrated

Self-Help Is Overrated. Others-Help Is Under-Recognized.

Last year, I tried to do it all.
Build, scale, support, lead, mentor, and coach—all solo.
Because I thought that’s what self-leaders do.
I burned out.

It wasn’t another book or a morning routine that helped me recover. It was the serendipitous crossing of paths, followed by a conversation with Shivani.

What started as a different yet identical individual vision became a co-creation.
Together, we built IntuiWellan integrative wellness brand that combines Shivani’s expertise in nutrition science with my leadership and mental resilience experience.

That one shift from “I” to “We” brought back clarity, momentum, and meaning.

We weren’t just building a business; we were building a legacy.
We were building around co-contribution.

And it made me revisit something Marcus Aurelius once said:
“You’ve been made by nature for the purpose of working with others.”

We’re not built for isolation.
We’re built for contribution.

And that mindset shift changes everything. You:
– Don’t get up just for yourself.
– Don’t keep going just for your own goals.
– Push through because someone’s counting on you.
– Grow not just through effort, but through connection.

Try the Dependence Map (a clarity tool I now use often):

1. Draw a 2×2 grid (refer to the slide)
2. Plot: Who Depends on Me?
3. Plot: Who I Depend on?

Then reflect:
✔ What do they need from me?
✔ What do I need from them?
✔ What can I improve this week in these relationships?

This is more than a reflection tool. It’s an action map.
It reveals where real leverage resides in relationships.

We’re made for synergia. For shared work. For building together.
When you start seeing life through this lens:
✔ Motivation rises
✔ Accountability sharpens
✔ Purpose deepens

Don’t try to do it all alone.
Build with others. Grow with others. Heal with others.
Because others-help is the most underrated growth tool we never talk about.

Curious: Who’s on your Dependence Map right now? Drop a note.
