The VALUE Framework

Vallabh Chitnis - VALUE Framework

The VALUE Framework. You Never Truly Value Something Until It’s Gone.

We think we know the worth of people and things around us.
But price tags and labels mislead us.

The blunt truth:
Absence reveals true value, not presence.

Use this powerful method, the VALUE Framework, to prevent losing something important.

V – Verify Importance

– List what you believe makes this person or thing valuable.
– Rate its current impact (emotional, practical, professional) from 1–10.

A – Absence Test

– Temporarily remove or imagine its absence clearly.
– Notice your feelings and daily changes.

L – Loss Evaluation

– Write down exactly what changed.
– Quantify the loss (productivity, emotional state, ease of living).

U – Use Alternatives

– Actively search for replacements or substitutes.
– Assess if alternatives fill the gap effectively or fall short.

E – Establish Worth

– Bring it back into your life.
– Feel and document the clarity or relief of its return.
– Clearly understand its true, irreplaceable value.

If losing something doesn’t hurt, its true value was low.
If losing something hurts deeply, you’ve found true worth.

Do not wait to lose something important.

Apply the VALUE test proactively.
